Australia Travel Diary part 5: Brisbane & Surfer’s Paradise

25th August

The last few days have been pretty eventful and LOTS of fun!

After Noosa, we visited Brisbane for a few hours. From what I saw of it, Brisbane seemed really nice. I would’ve liked to have seen more of it and spend more time there. As our next stop is Surfer’s Paradise, which is a big party place, I definitely needed better clothes, so used my time in Brisbane to shop! I bought a new top ready for Saturday night!

So, we’ve been in Surfer’s Paradise for the last 2 nights. It’s a proper party town, so was very busy. It’s quite built up as well. Everyone was excited for Saturday night. This is the first place for a while that we stayed more than 1 night and we haven’t had a proper night out since Cairns. Lots of alcohol was consumed and we obviously had pre-drinks at someones room.I think I was hammered before we even went out! Whilst we were waiting for the taxi, I befriended the hotel manager and was asking him for a job. He loved me!

The first stop was an Irish bar. I met a Welsh boy and was talking to him for ages! I dragged him to the club with me where I met up with the rest of the group. The club was packed! I didn’t really like it, but lots of men to talk to. I lost the Welsh boy pretty quickly! I ended up stopping out ridiculously late! Didn’t go to bed til 5 and then had to be at the bus stop fot 7.20!!! Who’s idea was it to go to Australia Zoo? Oh yeah! Mine! An optional trip I chose to do! Stupid decision! Getting up was horrendous! I think I was still drunk! My friend was also sick on the bus. The bus driver was quite sympathetic the first time, but when she did it again, he looked like he wanted to kill her!

Anyway, the zoo was actually good. I was just too hanging to appreciate it! The drive was far too loooooonnnggg though! I was ready to go by midday because I was so tired. Saw all the animals… koalas, kangaroos, crocodiles, zebras, giraffes, cassowaries…. was good!

Had a pretty chilled night tonight. Literally just had food and went straight to bed!

I’ve also discovered a huge bruise on my calf but I have no idea how I got it! It’s quite painful so I must have knocked it quite hard! Oops!

Travel plans for the rest of 2016

So, I didn’t mange a summer holiday. Booo! But it’s totally my fault so I can’t get too upset!! However, I have managed to book in a few little trips before the end of the year!

End of August – London

I shall heading down to London for a few days at the end of the month to see friends. I’m very excited! I have no idea what I’ll be getting up to (besides drinking) and that’s part of the excitement! 2 trips to London in a year… I’m a very lucky girl!

October – Munich, Germany

My friend and I decided that we would squeeze a long weekend in and basically looked on Skyscanner to see what flights were reasonably priced, at suitable times and somewhere that we both wanted to go to/ hadn’t already been! There were a few potential places coming up but we settled on Munich. I’ve never been to Germany before, so it’s a new country to add to my 40 before 40 list and I’m super excited to hopefully visit Neuschwanstein Castle! That’s a bucket list item!

December – Vienna, Austria & Manchester

vienna

Just before Christmas, the mother and I are heading to Vienna for a couple of nights to experience the Christmas market. This is another bucket list item for me and again, a new country! Yay!! Cannot wait to get all festive! I’m also heading up to Manchester for a couple of nights as well just after Christmas! Manchester holds a special place in my heart as it’s where I went to uni and I cannot wait to get back there!

As you can see, I’m trying to make up for the lack of a summer holiday and finishing the year off on a travel high! This means I will have added 3 new countries to my list by the end of the year, which isn’t bad. Soon I’ll be planning 2017’s adventures!
